Poem: Requiem for a chocolate cake

Requiem for a chocolate cake

Oh noble sponge;
Porous cocoa clay.
Icing glistening like morning dew.

Oh noble sponge;
Yielding marshmallow texture.
Incongruous, spilling over eager taste buds.

Oh noble sponge;
Deconstructing in calorific demise.
Icing yielding to my stomach.

Oh noble sponge;
Brief is our mutual pleasure.
I’ll have a second slice, please!
